Reason to Celebrate While Sheltering #earthday

Celebrate Earth Day’s 50th anniversary on April 22, 2020! Although we will be sheltering-in-place, there are things you can do around your home to support this movement. Here is a list of our top.

1. If you are able, plant a native species in your garden. Poppies and Redwoods are a nice way to start! Find what works in your area.
2. Buy a reusable water bottle that will last years. Zero plastic waste is our goal!
3. Spend the morning switching all of your bills to paperless.
4. Make your own, or buy a reusable shopping bag. Safe paper, avoid plastic, and you’ll look stylish doing so.
5. If you have to leave your home, walk or ride your bike.
6. Walk your neighborhood and pick up litter (wear gloves and mask!).
7. Make a list of at least ten earth-related things you are grateful for.
8. Stop using paper towels. Besides helping to save the environment,  reusable towels will actually save you money in the long run!
9. Spend the day educating yourself and the youngsters.  “A Year of Forest School” is a great book to keep on hand for the kids, and for adults we highly suggest  “Secrets of the Oak Woodlands” by Kate Marianchild.
